It's been a long time since I have made my last icon tutorial. But when I found this great new photoshoot I just couldn't resist. I liked the outcome- so I thought I'd share it with you:
I made it for Photoshop 7
--> curves are involved
from this
to this

-crop your image
-duplicate the base 2x
-set the first layer to screen
-set the layer to soft light
-make a new layer and fill it with: #c3d1d5
--> set this layer to color burn

-make a new layer and fill it with: #010e33
--> set this layer to exclusion at 32%

-select all and then go to edit/copy as merged layer
-make a new curves layer (layers/new adjustment layer/curves)
--->RBG
--> 1st point: 88/77
--> 2nd point: 139/115
--> 3rd point: 201/168
-make another curves layer
--->RED
--> 1st point: 74/96
--> 2nd point: 112/139
--->GREEN
--> 1st point: 97/58
--> 2nd point: 181/189
--->BLUE
--> 1st point: 69/52
--> 2nd point: 114/104
--> 3rd point: 189/183
-go to layers/new adjustment layer/hue & saturation
--> set the saturation to +15
And you're done!

Don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions.
